“Paprika” is a 1991 Italian erotic drama directed by Tinto Brass. Set in the 1950s, the story follows Mimma, an innocent young woman who takes on the name “Paprika” after being persuaded by her fiancé to work in a high-class brothel for a short time to earn money for their future. What begins as a temporary arrangement soon transforms into a journey of self-discovery as Paprika navigates the world of desire, seduction, and betrayal. The film, loosely inspired by John Cleland’s novel “Fanny Hill,” explores the intersections of love, power, and sexuality with Tinto Brass’s signature provocative style.
