An unnamed CIA operative, known as the Protagonist, is thrust into a covert organization tasked with preventing a global catastrophe. As he learns to manipulate time through "inversion," he must stop the malevolent Russian oligarch Andrei Sator, who threatens to trigger World War III using future technology.
