Despite Ayala's acquittal, he is tragically assassinated by a mysterious assailant bearing the Punisher's emblem. Meanwhile, Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio), now New York City's mayor, tightens his grip on power, escalating tensions with Murdock.
