Alina Starkov discovers her rare Grisha powers while crossing the Shadow Fold, a dangerous darkness dividing her war-torn homeland of Ravka. Whisked away to the Little Palace, she trains under the Darkling to harness her abilities as a Sun Summoner, while a criminal gang called the Crows plots to kidnap her.
