Joe Goldberg, a bookstore manager, becomes infatuated with Guinevere Beck after a chance encounter. He begins stalking her online and in real life, eventually saving her from a subway accident. Joe's obsession intensifies as he eliminates Beck's boyfriend, Benji, locking him in a glass box.
